The University of South Africa online application portal for the 2025 academic year has been opened for applications from interested high school graduates of South Africa and international countries. The Unisa Application Closing Date is the final day by which application programs must be submitted. After this date, the application period is closed, and no further applications will be accepted. It is important to submit your application before this deadline to be considered for the position in the program you wish to study.

All Applications for admission to UNISA 2025 are to be submitted online within the application period given by the University. However,  applicants are urged to submit their applications before the closing date as late applications may not be considered for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Application Opening/Closing Dates At UNISA Fo 2025-2026

Unisa 2025-2026 applicant must take note of the following application opening and closing dates for the 2025-2026 academic year;

• Undergraduate qualifications

Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 21 August to 11 October 2024.

• Honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas

Applications for admission to honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 21 August to 11 October 2024

• Master’s & doctoral qualifications

The Applications for admission to master’s and doctoral degrees for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 2 September to 22 November 2024 (some exceptions apply).

• Short Learning Programmes

Application and registration for Unisa’s Short Learning Programmes are open from 14 May to 19 July 2024.

Unisa Application Process 2025-2026

The UNISA Admission office processes all the applications online. Follow the guide and find out what we need from you to assist students. We also offer advice on how to apply and how to accept an offer letter.

• Note that you may be able to apply for at least two qualifications.
• The University of South Africa will alert you about the status of your application. If it goes well, UNISA will show you the qualification in which you have been accepted
• UNISA will also offer you a space for the period for which you have applied in the first 1 semester of 2025
• You are required to accept or reject the UNISA offer from the period in which the offer was given. In case you are not able to meet the deadline, the University will then take away the offer and your space will be given to another student.
• All First-time students at the University of South Africa will need to complete the First-Year Experience (FYE) MOOC (massive open online course) before he/she will be able to accept the offer.
• It is required that you accept one offer only. This is to ensure that as you accept an offer for one qualification even though both of your first or second qualification of choice are successful, the other offer will automatically fall away.
• In case you can accept the offer, you have to register for the period for which you have been permitted admission in the first 1 semester of 2025. If you don’t register for the given semester of study, you will then have to apply again for admission during the next application cycle.

Required Supporting Documents for UNISA Application 2025

All applicants starting a new qualification must upload all the required documents, which generally consist of the following:

• Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
• Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
• Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
• Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
• Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans
