The University of South Africa, Unisa Online Application for Admission to the 2025-2026 academic year is scheduled to open for all undergraduate, honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas. To apply for Unisa Admission online, go to www.unisa.ac.za online application portal 2025, choose your qualification, fill out the online form with the required details, and complete and submit your application for processing or review.
All applications for admission must be submitted online. There will be No self-help stations for applications at the regional offices. Admission to Unisa qualification is not automatic. It depends on you meeting the admission requirements and if space is available.
However, after your application has been accepted for the academic year, The University of South Africa (Unisa) will send all the important details about registration dates and the registration process to all successful applicants who have confirmed their acceptance of Unisa’s offer.

Unisa Application Opening Date 2025
You must apply for Unisa admission to the 2025 academic year during the relevant application period. Below are the important dates and deadlines to apply online at Unisa for the 2025 academic year;
- Undergraduate Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 21 August to 11 October 2024.
- Applications for admission to honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 21 August to 11 October 2024.
- Applications for admission to master’s and doctoral degrees for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 2 September to 22 November 2024 (some exceptions apply).
- Application and registration for Unisa’s Short Learning Programmes are open from 14 May to 19 July 2024.

First Semester registration Dates 2025
Undergraduate qualifications, honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas:
- The registration portal of Unisa for Undergraduate, honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas is open from January to February 2025.
Master’s & doctoral qualifications
- Unisa’s first-semester registration portal for Master and Doctoral Qualifications opens from January to April 2025(some exceptions apply).
Short Learning Programmes
- Application and registration for Unisa’s Short Learning Programmes will be open from January to March 2025.
Second Semester Registration Dates At Unisa 2025
Unisa second semester registration date for Undergraduate qualifications, honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas:
- For Undergraduate students registering for semester 2 modules in 2025 registration opens in June 2025, and closes in July 2025, with the final date for the initial minimum payment to finalize registration has been extended to July 2025.
The Unisa Second Semester registration date For Honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas:
- Semester 2 registrations for the MBA and MBL qualifications will open in June and close in July 2025.
Unisa Second Semester Registration Date For Short Learning Programmes
- Application and registration for Unisa’s Short Learning Programmes will be open from January to March 2025.
Required Documents To Apply & Register At Unisa 2025
The following documents are required to apply and register online at Unisa 2025;
- Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
- Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
- Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
- Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
- Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans
NOTE:
- Only upload the required documents as individual files and not a complete set of documents as one file. Please ensure that the documents and images you upload are clear.
- Files may not be larger than 2MB (2048KB) each.
- Only black and white documents may be submitted.
- Only the following file types are allowed: PDF (Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format file), DOC (Word document file) or TIF (image file)

How To Apply Online At Unisa 2025
Follow the step-by-step guide below to apply online at Unisa for the 2025 academic year;
- Go to Unisa website at www.unisa.ac.za
- Click on “Apply for Admission” at the top menu of the page
- Choose your qualification level (undergraduate, honours, postgraduate, etc)
- Read carefully the application instructions before you proceed
- Make sure you have your email address and cellphone number
- Proceed and click on “Apply Online” to start the online application
- Fill out the online application form with the requested details
- Upload all your supporting documents and pay an online application fee of R140.00
- Complete and submit your application for evaluation.
Register at Unisa for the 2025 Academic year
The University of South Africa (Unisa) will send all the important details about registration dates and the registration process to all successful applicants who have confirmed their acceptance of Unisa’s offer. To register with Unisa, follow the steps below;
- Go to UNISA registration website: https://registration.unisa.ac.za
- Then, choose your qualification level
- Click on the “GO” link to start the registration
- Ensure that you have a student number.
- Enter the student number in the space provided
- Provide all other necessary details as required by the university
- Kindly check all your personal and other information on the screen before you proceed to the next step
- Correct any contact details that seem incorrect. Providing the wrong information may delay your registration process
- From the drop-down list of modules, click on the one you wish to register for 2025
- Make sure you meet the admission requirement of the module for your chosen qualification
- You should not choose beyond the prescribed number of modules per semester or year
- Then, calculate your study fees. You can obtain a quote for the cost of your modules from http://www.unisa.ac.za/feequote
- Submit your online registration for review.
