Application Opening Dates/Deadlines At Unisa 2025-2026; When will UNISA Open for 2025 Applications?
The online application portal for the 2025 academic year opens on the following date to receive applications for the various qualifications;
Semester 1:
- Undergraduate Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 21 August to 11 October 2024.
- Applications for admission to honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 21 August to 11 October 2024.
- Applications for admission to master’s and doctoral degrees for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 2 September to 22 November 2024 (some exceptions apply).
- Application and registration for Unisa’s Short Learning Programmes are open from 14 May to 19 July 2024.
Semester 2:
- The application portal of Unisa for the 2025 second semester academic year opens in April to May, allowing prospective students who could not apply for the first semester to do so now.
All applications must be submitted before the closing date set by the University as late applications may not be considered by Unisa for the 2025 academic year.
Unisa Application Fee 2025
The application fee of Unisa is a non-refundable amount of money that prospective students must pay when submitting their application to a university. The required amount to apply for the 2025 academic year is R140.00.
The application fee must be paid at the time of application submission as applications without the fee will not be accepted for processing.

Required Documents To Apply At UNISA 2025
All applicants pursuing a new qualification, including first-time applicants and current UNISA students starting a new qualification, must submit the required documents.
- Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
- Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
- Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
- Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
- Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans

Submitting fraudulent documents is a violation of the Student Disciplinary Code. Please upload only the required documents as individual files, not as a combined set.
How To Apply At Unisa 2025
Follow the steps below to apply for admission into the 2025 academic year;
- Visit UNISA Online Application 2025 website: www.unisa.ac.za
- At the top menu of the page, click on the “Admission” tab
- Navigate to “Apply for Admission”
- Click on the “Apply for Admission” to start the application process
- Choose the qualification in which you wish to apply for
- Select your qualification and choose if you are a first-time applicant or a Returning student.
- Follow the prompts to complete the remaining fields to complete your application
- Submit your completed application form along with your uploaded documents before the closing date.
