Unisa Admission and Re-admission Rules 2025
Unisa Admission and Re-admission Rules 2025: Unisa courses
The University of South Africa has established minimum standards for students to maintain their registration, as detailed in the Admission Policy. These standards include:
- The Senate may exclude students for poor academic performance.
- Academically excluded students can appeal to the executive dean of their respective college.
- Qualifications must be completed within the following maximum periods (including deferment):
- 120 credits: 4 years
- 240 credits: 6 years
- 360 credits: 8 years
- 480 credits: 10 years
- Students who fail to complete their qualifications within the stipulated time will be excluded from further registration.
- Students excluded or suspended from another institution for misconduct will not be considered for admission.
- The Senate may shorten the maximum completion period for a qualification upon a college’s request.
- Compliance with these rules includes considering NDP registrations and results from aegrotat and supplementary examinations.
- Every year of registration at Unisa counts towards the total registration period, not just the years registered for a specific qualification.
- For students pursuing a second or additional qualification, only the registration years after completing the initial degree or diploma are considered for the new qualification’s study period.
- Exempted modules and previous academic performance at other universities are not considered when determining re-admission eligibility.
Unisa has updated the admission requirements and the number of modules a student must pass each semester. Students must be aware of these changes to ensure timely progression and graduation. These academic progression rules apply to all Unisa students, regardless of when they began their studies.
