The University of South Africa (UNISA) Online Application 2023 opening 11 August and close on 12 November 2022 for all other qualification. UNISA will not accept Late Applications for the 2023-2024 academic year. Apply Online Now!

The University of South Africa (UNISA) is an open-distance e-learning University that allows students to offer their studies by using online resources and study materials provided by UNISA.

UNISA offers career-oriented courses, which are often associated with a University of Technology, with general formative academic programs, which are often associated with a traditional university.

This university offers many certificates, degrees and diplomas at the bachelor’s, master and doctoral levels.

If I may ask, when will their applications for 2023 open?

UNISA University Admission management has stated that they will open and accept online applications for the 2022-2023 academic year on 11 August. The deadline for all applications will be 12 November 2022.

At UNISA, students will receive study materials in the form of printed content in textbooks or online through myUNISA. Although UNISA provides computers and internet connection at certain of its facilities, students should have their own computer and internet connectivity.

Despite their distance, the institution continues to provide numerous resources to students, including libraries, tutorial help, counseling, and other online tools.

Students can study full-time or part-time, allowing them to work and study at the same time. They also have the freedom to plan their own schedules in order to complete each course they are enrolled in.

If they match the criteria, Unisa students may potentially be eligible for a bursary from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).

NSFAS Requirements for 2023

The criteria to be funded by NSFAS are as follows:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be accepted or apply to a Public South African University
  • SASSA grant beneficiaries are immediately accepted
  • Household income must come to below R350 000 per year
  • People with disabilities need to have a household income that comes below R600 000 per year

The NSFAS bursary covers more than just tuition. They also pay registration fees and provide various allowances for accommodation, learning material, living and transport.

NSFAS applications usually open in August or September every year for University students.

Open Distance e-learning means that learning will take place where the student and the university are physically distanced and the student will connect with the university mostly via the internet from a laptop, tablet or other devices.
