When to Apply for 2025 Master’s at Unisa? Unisa Master’s Application 2025
Applications for admission to Unisa Master’s and Doctoral qualifications for 2025 academic year is currently open. Therefore, everyone wanting to start a new Unisa master’s and doctoral degree must apply for admission to the 2025-2026 academic year before the closing date or deadline.
Unisa applications musrt done online on the official website of the university during the application season. You r admission to the university is dependent on whether you meet the admission requirements and have in possession supporting documents. Complete the online application form, submit supporting documents, make payment of the application fee(R140) and apply before the closing date to be considered for master’s programs at the university for the 2025 academic year.

Unisa Master’s Application Date 2025
Applications for admission to master’s and doctoral qualifications for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 2 September to 22 November 2024. However, Applications for the following qualifications will remain open until the end of June 2025:
- All full research qualifications in the College of Science, Engineering and Technology
- Doctor of Philosophy (90040) – SET, MAT, TEC, CHE, COM, LIF, AST, STA, SCE & PHY options
- Master of Science in Nature Conservation (full dissertation) (98022)
- Qualifications in the Department of Decision Sciences (98597 – ORE; 98598; 98701)
Applicants are urged to submit their application before the closing date as late applications will not be considered for the 2025 academic year. Applications must be complete before submission.
Who can Apply for Admission to a Master’s or Doctoral Degree?
Everyone wanting to start a new master’s or doctoral degree must apply for admission. This includes
- first-time Unisa applicants.
- Unisa students changing to a new qualification.
- Students in their final year of study towards an honours degree, postgraduate diploma or master’s degree who wish to continue with further postgraduate studies.
Application Fee For Unisa Master’s Application 2025
A non-refundable application fee of R140.00 is required of all applicants. Applications received without the application fee will not be processed. The closing date for application fee payment is the closing date for 2025 applications.
How to Apply for a Masters Degree at Unisa for 2025?
Unisa Application for Masters and Doctoral degrees is done online. To apply for admission to masters and doctoral qualifications at Unisa for 2025, follow the steps below:
- Go to www.unisa.ac.za
- Click on the “Apply for admission” tab
- Select the qualification level (Masters & Doctoral degrees)
- Carefully read the application information before you proceed
- Make sure that you qualify for this qualification that you want to apply
- Then, click on the “Apply online” tab and continue with the application
- This will take you to the “Unisa Application Tool” where you will be asked to provide your details
- Answer the questions and enter all the required information requested
- Upload the required compulsory supporting documents to continue
- Complete and submit your application for evaluation. Ensure that all fields are completed
Documents for UNISA Master’s and Doctoral Qualifications
All applicants applying for Unisa master’s and doctoral degrees for the 2025 academic year must submit the following supporting documents:
South African National
- a copy of your valid ID or passport
- complete academic records (excluding Unisa qualifications),
- the grading scale (ledger),
- the SAQA certificate of evaluation (for foreign qualifications).
- Additionally, submit your research outline (except for MBA, MBL, LLM coursework qualifications, and the coursework MCom in Industrial Psychology). The required documents will be highlighted in red on the upload platform.
International Applicants
International students may apply without submitting the SAQA certificate of evaluation during the application process. If your application is approved, you will be allowed to register; however, the certificate must be submitted to MandD@unisa.ac.za before you can re-register for the next academic year.
NOTE: Supporting documents must be scanned and saved as specific document types and uploaded separately (eg ID or CV), and not as one combined file. E-mailed documents will not be accepted.
