Applications for admission to Unisa’s undergraduate qualifications (higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas & degrees) are currently open.  If you want to apply for undergraduate qualification in teaching in 2023, you must begin your application on the 1st of September 2022 to the e14th of October 2022.

The teaching course at Unisa falls under the Higher Certificate qualifications. Higher Certificates are usually industry-related courses that take about 1-3 years to complete. Many of the skills you learn are practical-based and work-related. This means that they will help you a lot in the workplace.

These skill-based qualifications can be completed with a matric certificate. It is important to remember that with skills-based qualifications like these, you’re more likely to find employment.

 

Higher Certificate In Teaching Course At Unisa Applicants Must Know:

Before applying for your chosen higher certificate, here are a few things you need to know:

  • It’s an NQF level 5
  • You must complete it in 3 years
  • You will have 10 modules
  • Each higher certificate is made of 120 credits
  • Some higher certificates may require subject-specific marks. Possible in maths, life science etc.

 

Requirements Needed To Apply For A HigherCertificate In Teaching At Unisa

These are the following requirements needed to apply for a higher certificate at UNISA:

  • A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with at least 40% in the language of teaching and learning,
    or
  • a Senior Certificate (SC) with at least an E symbol on HG or a D symbol on SG in the language of teaching and learning,
    or
  • a National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 with an equivalent of at least 40% in the language of teaching and learning in terms of the NSC.
  • The Higher Certificate in Education is not a Professional Teaching Qualification.
