Advanced Certificate in Education UNISA 2025
Advanced Certificate in Education UNISA 2025: Advanced Certificate in Teaching Unisa
The Advanced Certificate in Education (ACE) is a postgraduate qualification aimed at educators in the University of South Africa. It is designed for teachers who already hold a teaching qualification and want to specialize in a specific area of education or upgrade their qualifications to meet certain professional requirements.
Qualification with a strong focus on the workplace is the Advanced Certificate in Intermediate Phase Mathematics and English First Additional Language Teaching or Education. The acquired knowledge places a strong emphasis on broad principles and how they are used in mathematics and English education.
The certification gives students pursuing teacher education a solid knowledge base for instructing English and Mathematics (FAL) in the Intermediate Phase. Along with giving students the tools to engage in more intensive and specialized learning, it also gives learners the chance to apply their knowledge and abilities to classroom instruction.
This certification has a strong professional focus on getting instructors ready to teach math in the Intermediate Phase or to brush up on their content understanding of maths and English in the Intermediate Phase. There is an incorporated WIL component in this qualification.
This certification aims to meet the requirements of three categories of teachers:
- Teachers who desire to focus on teaching mathematics and English (FAL) but who have not previously completed a professional teaching degree in either of those subjects (retraining).
- Teachers who want to focus more on teaching English and mathematics (FAL) during the Intermediate phase.
- Teachers who completed a National Professional Diploma in Education at NQF Level 5 (or an initial three-year Diploma in Education from the old College of Education) (upgrading).
Students who do not meet all the admission requirements for this qualification should rather consider applying for a BEd degree (if not already professionally qualified).
