The application fee at Unisa is a one-time payment. Once applicants have paid the application fee and received a formal Unisa student number, they will not need to pay the fee again. The due date for the application fee is the closing date of the application period for Unisa 2025. Applications submitted without the application fee will not be processed. Please retain a copy of your proof of payment. This fee is non-refundable, even if you decide not to study at Unisa or if you do not qualify for admission.

For convenience, Unisa offers various payment methods. If making an electronic transfer, ensure that the reference field is completed accurately. Please note that cash and cheques are not accepted at Unisa offices, but cash payments can be made into the university’s bank account at any First National Bank (FNB) or ABSA Bank branch.

Everyone wanting to start a new qualification must apply for admission. The following are the people who can apply for admission:

  • first-time Unisa applicants.
  • Unisa students changing to a new qualification and/or changing the specialization of a current qualification.
  • applicants in their final year of an undergraduate qualification who wish to continue with postgraduate studies.

Note:

You must apply for admission if you previously applied for admission and were offered a space, but did not register for any reason. Should you experience any system error issue when submitting your application, please send an e-mail, together with a screenshot of the error message, to the relevant college e-mail address. Remember to always include your student number in the subject line of your e-mail.

Everyone applying for a new qualification must submit the required documents (all first-time applicants and Unisa students starting a new qualification). The due date for uploading the required documents is the closing date for applications. No documents submitted after the closing date for applications will be accepted.

All applicants starting a new qualification must upload all the required documents, which generally consist of the following:

  • Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
  • Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
  • Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
  • Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
  • Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans

NOTE:

  • Only upload the required documents as individual files and not a complete set of documents as one file.
  • Files may not be larger than 2MB (2048KB) each.
  • Only black and white documents may be submitted.
  • Only the following file types are allowed: PDF (Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format file), DOC (Word document file) or TIF (image file).
