Can You Graduate With A Failed Module At Unisa? Graduation At Unisa

Graduation is the successful completion of a course of study at a university, college, or school, for which you receive a degree or diploma. At Unisa, students are expected to pass all modules for every academic year and semester but in case a student fails a module before graduation, the student will be able to progress to the next level if he or she carries at least 20 credits of failure. But if the student fails more than 20 credits, then they can’t progress. The only option is to retake the module.

Once exam results are out, the Directorate of Student Admissions and Registrations reviews the records of final-year students to confirm they’ve completed their qualification. After this, the Division of Graduations updates the student’s status from “Final year” to “Completed.” The review will be done as quickly as possible after the exam results are released.

You will receive an email and SMS confirming the completion of your qualification, along with an Advance Statement of Results sent to your myLife email, unless you have a pending disciplinary hearing, or owe outstanding fees or library materials.

You may not be able to graduate at Unisa if you fail a module, however, You will be able to retake the module on one occasion only, and your module mark will be capped at the minimum pass mark. The results of all final year students will be audited/verified before a student’s qualification status is changed from “final year” to complete. The audit will be finalized as soon as reasonably possible after the final examination results are published. Confirmation of completion of the qualification will not be provided before the audit is finalized.
