Application Dates For Unisa Masters and Doctoral Degrees 2025-2026
Applications for admission to master’s and doctoral qualifications for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 2 September to 22 November 2024.
Applications for the following qualifications will, however, remain open until the end of June 2025:
- All qualifications in the College of Science, Engineering and Technology (excluding Computer Science & Information Science qualifications)
- Doctor of Philosophy (90040) – SET, MAT, TEC, CHE, COM, LIF, AST, STA, SCE & PHY options
- Master of Science in Nature Conservation (full dissertation) (98022)
- Qualifications in the Department of Decision Sciences (98597 – ORE; 98598; 98701)
How To Apply Online For Masters and Doctoral Degrees At Unisa 2025-2026
If you do not have a student number, you need to first apply online for one during UNISA’s application period and pay the application fee of R140. You will receive confirmation via SMS and email once your application for a student number is successful.
After receiving your student number, you must apply online for admission to the 2025 academic year. Upload the required supporting documents, which will be indicated in red on the online application platform. Typically, these documents include a copy of your ID or passport, complete academic records (if not UNISA qualifications), the ledger, and SAQA certificate of evaluation (for foreign qualifications), as well as a research outline (except for MBA, MBL, coursework LLM, and coursework MCom in Industrial Psychology).
Ensure that all steps are completed for your admission application to be considered. Applications and documents submitted via email will not be accepted.
Documents Required to Apply For Masters and Doctoral Degrees At Unisa 2025-2026
To ensure your application for admission is considered, you must upload the following documents as part of the online application process.
- ID Document (for South African citizens), Valid Passport (for international candidates), or Birth Certificate.
- Marriage/Divorce Documents (if applicable, and if your names on the academic record differ from those on your identity document).
- Complete Academic Records (including the scoring ledger) and sworn translations if the documents are not in English or Afrikaans (not required for qualifications obtained from UNISA). The academic record must confirm that you have completed the qualification (not needed for UNISA qualifications).
If your qualifications were obtained outside South Africa, please note:
- The qualification required for admission must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
- You may apply for admission without a SAQA certificate of evaluation.
- If your admission is accepted, you may register but will need to submit the SAQA certificate of evaluation before re-registering for the next academic year.
