The National Student Financial Aid Scheme, NSFAS Online Application 2024-2025 academic year will be open on 28 September 2023 and close on 31 January 2024 due to COVID-19 regulations. For details about NSFAS 2024 applications, visit www.nsfas.org.za. However, prospective applicants are encouraged to apply for the NSFAS bursary for the 2024-2025 academic year to avoid late submissions.

A Comprehensive Guide on How to Apply Online for NSFAS 2024-2025

To apply for NSFAS Application 2024 online form, You must first register for myNSFAS account and submit your application via myNSFAS portal. Follow the procedure below:

  1. Go to NSFAS website: www.nsfas.org.za
  2. Click “myNSFAS” tab at the top right menu of the NSFAS page
  3. This takes you to the myNSFAS Student portal homepage
  4. Create myNSFAS account. If you don’t know how to create NSFAS account, click HERE
  5. Once your myNSFAS account is created, proceed and submit your application
  6. Click on the “Apply” tab and fill out the online application form
  7. Upload the required supporting documents
  8. Submit your online application for evaluation

NSFAS will notify you of your application outcome via SMS or email after submitting your application. If you were “Provisionally Funded”, you will be asked to check the status of your application for the 2024-2025 academic cycle. To check your NSFAS Application Status for 2024, click HERE

Required Supporting Documents for NSFAS Application 2024-2025

  • Provide a copy of ID. A temporary ID issued by the Department of Home Affairs will be accepted.
  • Non-SASSA applicants should provide ID copies of parent/s, legal guardian/guardian, or spouse.
  • Smart ID cards: a copy with both sides of the smart ID must be provided.
  • Proof of income: applicant and/or parents/legal guardian/spouse (where applicable (non-SASSA) should provide the latest payslip not older than 3 months, UIF letter, appointment letter, retrenchment letter (applicant and/or parent(s), legal guardian/spouse).
  • A person with disabilities: to complete Disability Annexure A form.

NB: If you are studying at the University of South Africa (UNISA) you will receive funding for:

  • Tuition
  • Books (subject to the number of modules registered)
  • Personal care allowance

In case you are not able to finish the application by yourself, you can go to a National Youth Development Agency Centre, a Thusong Centre, or one of the NSFAS application partner centers near you, where an NSFAS representative will assist you to apply.
